Visiting New Brunswick

Introduction

From the eclectic urban delights of Saint John and Fredericton to its sweeping coastlines and wildlife-filled national parks, New Brunswick on Canada's Atlantic coast is packed full of highlights. Enjoy it all alongside delicious seafood and some of Canada's very best craft beers for a truly delicious holiday.

Bay of Fundy & Fundy National Park

New Brunswick is arguably the most charming province of Atlantic Canada, with its lighthouse-studded islands and picturesque fishing communities host to an abundance of boutiques, galleries and restaurants serving up ultra-fresh seafood. Then, of course, there's the spectacular Bay of Fundy, demonstrating the highest tides in the world – one of the highlights of any New Brunswick itinerary.

High and low tides can be witnessed twice a day to reveal what lies on the ocean floor with the opportunity to walk on the rocks that were hidden in water just moments ago. The bay attracts a number of naturalists to the area and is also the site for whales that breach along the shoreline. The spectacular Fundy National Park is all rolling mountains and winding roads that make for an ultra-scenic road trip as you stop to spot myriad wildlife, such as moose and caribou.

Saint John & surrounds

Head to capital Saint John to discover fossils displayed at the New Brunswick Museum and relax at Cape Jourimain Nature Centre and look out to the Confederation Bridge. Or, visit the vast sandy beaches at Kouchibouguac National Park and take the opportunity to canoe to a nearby collection of grey seals.

Acadian culture

There's typical Acadian villages found along the Acadian Peninsula, with effigies dotting the beach – discover more at Bouctouche, Cap Pelé and the living history museum of Village Historique Acadien. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton is home to spectacular artwork and the historic Garrison District, while Moncton is known for its Coliseum and The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada.
