Days 1-2 Quito
Tour Quito’s colonial old quarter, the largest and best preserved in South America. Continue to the Equatorial Monument, to stand with a foot in each hemisphere.
Day 3 The Amazon
After a scenic flight over the Andes and a four-hour river transfer from Coca - keeping a look out for monkeys and macaws - you’ll arrive at the Napo Wildlife Centre in an Amazon nature reserve.
Days 4-5 Napo Wildlife Centre
Activities include visits to parrot clay licks (where parrots and macaws gather to eat clay from the riverbanks), rainforest hikes and visits to indigenous communities. There’s also a chance to climb the centre’s 12-storey canopy tower.
Day 6 Quito
Return by river to Coca and fly back to Quito for the night.
Days 7-8 Avenue of Volcanoes
Travel across the highlands along the suitably named Avenue of Volcanoes. On clear days, the snowcapped cone of Cotopaxi Volcano is a remarkable sight. Spend the night at a 300-year-old hacienda before continuing through dramatic mountain scenery to Riobamba.
Day 9 Guayaquil
Visit an Indian town en route to Cuenca, before a flight to Guayaquil, gateway to the Galapagos.
Days 10-13 Galapagos
Begin a four-night Galapagos cruise aboard M/V Santa Cruz.
Days 14-15 Quito
Disembark for a return flight to Quito and final night before transferring to the airport.
