A Hacienda Experience In Otavalo
This is an excellent place to pick up South American souvenirs. Youll find ponchos, embroidered blouses, ceramics, wall hangings, native jewellry and authentic Panama hats.
Day 1
Head north from Quito through the valleys of Guayllabamba and Cayambe, arriving at one of the local inns or colonial haciendas in time for lunch. Visit San Antonio de Ibarra, famous for its carvings.
Day 2
Visit the market at Otavalo and let browsing turn to buying. Lunch will be at another beautiful hacienda. Afternoon visit to Peguche where textiles are woven.
Day 3
Visit Cuicocha Lake and the town of Cotacachi, an entire town dedicated to fine leather products. Continue south for lunch before returning to Quito.
