Costa Rica’s spectacular volcanoes and beautiful beaches
Costa Rica is one of Central America’s smallest countries and without doubt one of the friendliest. Day 1 San José
Arrive in the capital, San José, and transfer to Rincón del Valle Hotel & Suites.
Days 2-3 Sarapiquí
Transfer to Sarapiquí for a stay at Hacienda Pozo Azul, a former 2,000-acre cattle ranch now offering relaxing tented suites and a host of adventure activities. Choose from two of the following options: a two-hour horse ride through pristine forest; a canopy tour ending with a 900-foot zip line ride; white water rafting or abseiling down a 90-foot wall in the Sarapiquí river canyon. After a night in your tented suite, enjoy a day at leisure to soak up the wildlife and beautiful surrounds.
Days 4-6 Central Highlands
One of Costa Rica’s greatest attractions is Arenal Volcano, which spews a constant trickle of red-hot lava into the night sky. Transfer from Sarapiquí to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano Inn, for views of the volcano.
You’ll have an opportunity to walk the trails close to Arenal and bathe in the eight cascading pools of the Titoku Hot Springs. Next day, tour Arenal Lake, a vast expanse of water created to provide hydroelectric power, before transferring to Monteverde.
Day 7 Monteverde
Tour the Monteverde Cloud Forest, a tropical rainforest bathed in a constant soft mist, home to pumas, jaguars and more than 400 species of bird. Afterwards, visit Selvatura Adventure Park and test your sense of adventure on canopy zip lines and treetop walkways.
Days 8-9 San José
After breakfast, return to San José for a final night before transferring to the airport the next day.
