Northern Lights & Winter Nights, Canada

Churchill, in the Canadian province of Manitoba, is one of the best places in North America to witness a display of the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

This exciting adventure in the snow covered setting of arctic Canada offers you a chance to experience the Northern Lights from the deck of a Tundra Buggy, a specially designed vehicle which will transport you in to the wilderness outside of Churchill (and well away from any source of artificial light) to maximise your chances of seeing the phenomenon as well as a chance to participate in a range of daytime excursions which include snowshoeing treks and a dog sledding experience.

Day 1: Winnipeg
Upon arrival in Winnipeg, transfer independently to your hotel, the Inn at the Forks. Get to know your guide and fellow travellers at a meet & greet event in the hotel’s lounge.

Day 2: Winnipeg
Today will include a visit to the Manitoba Museum and Planetarium. Here, you will learn about traditional lifestyles of the Innuit people and participate in an introductory photography clinic to get tips on how to best capture the Aurora Borealis.

Day 3: Churchill
Fly north to Churchill where, upon arrival, you will embark on a tour of the town and surrounding area and visit the Eskimo Museum. Check-in to the Tundra Inn, a small but comfortable hotel in the heart of Churchill before embarking on your first evening on board a warm Tundra Buggy to go in search of the Northern Lights.

Days 4-6: Churchill
Over the next few days you will enjoy daily activities such as dog sledding excursions, snowshoeing treks as well as local Innuit culture and wildlife presentations. In the evenings you will head out on extensive Tundra Buggy safaris to hopefully witness the mesmerising Northern Lights dancing across the night sky in striking arcs of green, red and blue.

Day 7: Winnipeg
Depart Churchill in the morning and fly back south to Winnipeg. Check-in at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel located at the airport.

Day 8: Depart
Check-in for your flight back to the UK.
