Days 1–3 Siem Reap
You will be met on arrival and transferred to the 5-star Hotel de la Paix (right) for a three-night stay. Leave at dawn on the second day to see the sun rise over some of the most spectacular temples of Angkor. Visit the walled city of Angkor Thom, the bas-reliefs of the Bayon temple and the jungle ruins of Ta Prohm. Finish your visit with a tethered balloon ride for aerial views and gain an even greater appreciation for the sheer enormity of the Angkor temples.
Days 4–5 Phnom Penh
Take a short flight to Phnom Penh and transfer to your luxurious hotel, The Quay. After years of trouble, Cambodia’s capital is a city reinventing itself. Many areas are a testament to Cambodia’s French colonial past while the developed riverfront with its bars and restaurants stands as a model for its future. Your tour will include visits to the Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek – both sights provide insight into the atrocities committed under Pol Pot’s rule. You’ll also visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and Wat Phnom.
Days 6–7 Kep
Depart on a three-hour drive to Kep. From 1908 ‘Kep-sur-Mer’ was a seaside retreat for expats seeking respite from Phnom Penh’s searing heat. Kep was the scene of ferocious fighting between the Khmer Rouge and government forces and many of its traditional villas were razed to the ground. Your hotel for the next two nights, Knai Bang Chat, is a series of restored villas. Take a short drive to Kampot, a former French port and now a little-visited collection of French façades and tree-lined streets. Stop at a cave temple on your return to Kep.
Day 8 Depart Cambodia
