WEXAS travel foundation update
Published: 01 January 2008
The wexas travel foundation is into its second year of fundraising and is beginning to gain momentum. Our aim is to raise £22,000 for the charities we support. Cool Earth will use the money to secure threatened sections of the Amazon Rainforest, those that would otherwise be sold to loggers or ranchers. With the land placed in a local trust, this not only protects the carbon contained within the forest, but provides hope and employment for indigenous communities. Africa Foundation will use the money to build a classroom in an under-resourced school in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
It’s easy to forget how great an impact even the smallest gesture can make. We hope that despite today’s financial climate, you’ll continue to support our cause. A voluntary donation of just £1 each time you make a booking with WEXAS is all that we’re asking. WEXAS staff have themselves been raising money, and the company has both supported staff activity (covering the cost of both fuel and transport during this summer’s attempt at the Three Peak’s Challenge – see last issue) and has matched the cost of member donations in 2008. We thank you for your continued support.
