Location

The camp is located in the middle of Mimosa Rocks National Park on a remote part of the southern New South Wales coast accessible on a Sydney-Melbourne drive. It’s surrounded by a vibrant natural habitat, home to an abundance of wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos and koalas. It’s ripe for exploration.

Accommodation

Much more than a tent, the accommodation, while canvas walled, features modern en suite bathrooms, a writing desk and a sofa. The tent decks are built from reclaimed timber and are the perfect spot to relax with superb lagoon views after a day’s exploration. There’s also a lounge area and queen bed to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Two larger deluxe tents are available with a bathtub big enough for two.

Dining

Included in the price is a light breakfast consisting of organic muesli, sourdough bread, organic butter, honey and artisan coffee, all of which is locally sourced. With excellent local markets nearby, guests are encouraged to make the most of their accommodation’s excellent cooking facilities, which consist of a high quality gas BBQ supplemented by a fully equipped kitchen. Have dinner on your front deck while watching the sun set over the lagoon. You can even make use of the provided camp oven to cook over an open fire. There are also several dining options in the local area.

Facilities

A stay at Tanja Lagoon Camp is all about getting close to the region's outstanding nature. Middle Beach, where the lagoon meets the ocean, has a surf break with deep rock pools at the northern end and a sand bar at the southern end. The sea entrance to nearby Wapengo Lake, Bithry Inlet, is a fantastic spot for swimming and kayaking. It’s also home to oyster farms where you can buy fresh Sydney Rock Oysters. To avoid getting wet, there’s the Sapphire Coast Geotrail, excellent stargazing opportunities and art galleries.
