Glaciers of Argentina tour

Glaciers of the South Buenos Aires & Perito Moreno

One of the planet’s few advancing glaciers, Perito Moreno is the stunning centrepiece of Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. The 30,000- year-old spectacular mass of ice is as big as Buenos Aires, which is where you’ll begin this weeklong tour. From the capital’s chic restaurants and Parisian-style architecture, travel south to the town of El Calafate, only 80km from the famous glacier.

Day 1 Buenos Aires Arrive in the capital and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 Buenos Aires Enjoy a tour of the elegant turn-of-the-century districts that earned the city its soubriquet of the ‘Paris of South America’. We’re also happy to arrange an evening dinner and a tango show should you wish.

Day 3 El Calafate Fly to El Calafate, gateway to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 4 Perito Moreno Glacier It’s a beautiful drive to Perito Moreno Glacier, where a series of walkways offers breathtaking views of the towering, 80m blue-hued wall of ice. If you’re really lucky you’ll see house-size blocks sheer off from the face, dropping through the air and hitting Lago Argentino with an almighty crash, only to reappear and bob away as icebergs. This is entering a world outside of human scale, utterly geological and incredible to witness.

Day 5 Upsala Glacier Today’s excursion is to Perito Moreno’s neighbour, Upsala. Glide across Lago Argentino between wind-sculpted icebergs to Estancia Cristina, founded by an Englishman in 1914. It offers by far the best access to the glacier, and will also serve up a sizzling asado (barbecue).

Days 6–7 Buenos Aires Fly back to Buenos Aires for your final night before your transfer to the airport the next day.
