Sir Richard Dales joined the Diplomatic Service after graduating from Cambridge. Most of his postings were to Africa and Scandinavia, interspersed with posts at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London. He was Ambassador to Norway from 1998 - 2002. Sir Richard is currently Chairman of the Anglo-Norse Society.
