Essential Sri Lanka - Private Tour
From the day you arrive at the city of Negombo, the colour, energy and history of this droplet-shaped Indian Ocean island will take your breath away. You’ll visit the ancient rock fortress at Sigiriya and the painted Dambulla Cave Temples, stopping at the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela on the way. Then it’s onto Kandy, the cultural capital, to see the Temple of the Sacred Tooth which once belonged to Buddha, followed by the tea plantations at Nuwara Eliya, where the lifestyle hasn’t changed for generations. Bright masks and saffron robes, the cries of peacocks and traditional drumming, scents of frangipani and exotic spices - this is a taste of essential Sri Lanka.
Itinerary
Days 1 & 2
Fly Business Class to Colombo and transfer to The Beach, Negombo for one night
Day 3
Set off to Sigiriya, en route visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Afternoon visit to the Dambulla Cave Temples. Stay
at Vil Uyana, Sigiriya for two nights
Day 4
Visit and climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the ancient town of Polonnaruwa
Day 5
Drive to Kandy via the spice garden and batik factory at Matale. City tour of Kandy including Temple of Tooth Relic and botanical gardens. Enjoy an evening Cultural Show. Stay overnight at Earls Regency
Day 6
Head to Nuwara Eliya and visit a tea factory and plantation. Stay overnight at Warwick Gardens
Day 7
Proceed to Negombo via Kithulgala enjoying the waterfalls of St Clairs. Stay overnight at The Beach, Negombo
Day 8
Transfer to Colombo for your flight home to the UK
