What the experts say
The idea of covering more than 4,000 km in six days by taking eight trains certainly seemed a daunting prospect, but nothing could be further from the truth – each stage of the journey connected seamlessly, stations and carriages were spotless and I was ready to explore each city within half an hour of arriving.
Without exception, Hospes hotels are excellent. These old, historical buildings have been lovingly restored, their original features preserved and then cleverly blended with a modern twist. Each hotel has its own charm, from the rustic feel of the Hospes Las Casas del Rey de Baeza in Seville to the absolute tranquillity of the courtyard garden at the Hospes Palacio del Bailio in Cordoba.
