Highlights of Peru
If time is precious, this short, affordable tour will allow you to experience Peru’s ultimate highlights including Cuzco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Day 1 Lima
Arrive Lima and transfer to hotel.
Day 2 Lima
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon visit the Historical Centre including the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the old streets with colonial mansions and Moorish Balconies. You will also visit the San Francisco Convent, which has the most magnificent collection of colonial art in South America. Tour continues with a drive through the vibrant districts of San Isidro, Larco Mar and Miraflores overlooking the Pacific Ocean (B).
Day 3 Lima - Cuzco
Head to Lima Airport and fly to Cuzco. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Morning at leisure. In the afternoon join a half-day city tour that will show you this magical city built on the foundations of the Inca Palaces. You will visit Korikancha - Temple of the Sun, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. After a short drive out of the city you will also visit the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the underground cave and temple of Kenko and Tambomachay, known as the Baths of the Inca (B).
Day 4 Cuzco
Drive through the scenic Sacred Valley of the Incas and stop in the town of Pisac to visit the lively and colourful market where local Indians meet to sell their merchandise as they have done for centuries. Continue to Ollantaytambo where you can climb the impressive Inca fortress (B, L).
Day 5 Cuzco - Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Transfer to Ollanta train station for the train service to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Guided tour of the marvellous citadel, visiting the main plaza, the royal quarters, the Temple of Three Windows, the circular tower and the sacred Sun Dial and burial grounds (B).
Day 6 Cuzco
Day at leisure. Enjoy Cuzco’s colonial churches and mansions built over original Inca constructions, admire its beautiful plazas or just stroll its picturesque cobblestoned streets. Visit San Blas quarter, or simply spend the day shopping (B).
Day 7 Cuzco- Lima
Transfer to Cuzco airport. Upon arrival in Lima, transfer to your hotel or assistance for international flight connection (B).
