Starting in the vibrant capital Oslo, where you will have time to take in Vigelansparken Sculpture Park, the ground breaking architecture of the Opera House or immerse yourself in the cities museums and galleries including the Historical and Munch Museums.
You will then take the Bergen Railway - reputed to be one of the great railway journeys of the world. This 8-hour journey climbs up to 4000 feet across the barren, snow flecked Hardangervidda mountain plateau before descending through lush valleys to the coastal city of Bergen. This journey includes the famous Flam railway and sailing along the narrow and magnificent fjords onwards to Bergen.
Bergen is Norway’s second city (and for many it’s most attractive). Stroll the length of Bryggen to the old fortress of Bergenhus, pick up fresh seafood lunch at the fish market, take the funicular for a glorious vantage point and walk through the beautiful wooded terrain of the seven mountains that surround the city.

You will then take the Bergen Railway for the first section of your ’Norway in a Nutshell’ tour. Today you will travel to Myrdal, experience the Flam railway, take the fjord cruise to Gudvangen - where the bus will then take you onwards to Voss where you will hop off and check into the historic Fleischer’s Hotel.
Voss offers a marvellous combination of culture and scenery. Whether you are looking of peace and quiet in picturesque surroundings or want to challenge Mother Nature - and yourself - by partaking in more extreme activities, Voss offers something for every taste.
Once your batteries have recharged you will re-join the train on the ’Norway in a Nutshell’ descending through lush valleys to the coastal city of Bergen.
