Alexandria today is the second largest city in Egypt, but once stood as the largest city in the world, a beacon of culture - as symbolised by the Pharaohs Lighthouse - and a centre of learning. Founded by Alexander the Great it has been through many iterations, from world capital to sleepy fishing village and on to commercial maritime centre. There is much for the tourist to explore; the relics of the ancient world, as well as any one of the myriad of exquisite fish restaurants that the city is famous for.
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to Cairo railway station to board your 1st class train to Alexandria. On arrival at Alex you will be met and transferred to the Four Seasons St. Stefano Hotel. In the afternoon visit the Alexandria Library. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Full day sightseeing at Alex including Catacombs, the Roman Amphitheater, Fort of Quait Bay, the National Museum and Montazah Gardens Enjoy lunch at Fish Market restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: After breakfast and check out, transfer to Alex railway station to board the first class train back to Cairo.
