9 night/10 day Cairo and Dahabiya cruise – from £2,248 pp
Enjoy a tranquil journey along the Nile by traditional Dahabiya. Dahabiyas were originally used in the 19th century by aristocrats cruising the Nile. These beautifully crafted vessels, which are powered by sail, offer an intimate experience with only a few cabins. Their size also means that means that they are able to access areas for sightseeing that larger ships cannot.
We recommend the Lazuli I, II and III. Which operate 5 night itineraries between Aswan and Esna. Accommodation consists of 6 cabins and suites all with en suite bathrooms, some with private balconies, for up to 12 guests. Facilities include an upper deck and lounge with library, DVDs and internet access, a private guide and laundry services.
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1 London to Cairo. You will be met on arrival by a tour co-ordinator and transferred by air-conditioned vehicle to your chosen hotel. Overnight Grand Hyatt Hotel, Cairo.
Day 2 Giza. After breakfast you will be introduced to your Egyptologist, before heading to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. In the afternoon visit the Egyptian museum of Antiquities. Overnight Grand Hyatt Hotel, Cairo.
Day 3 Cairo to Luxor. Transfer to the airport for your flights to Luxor. On arrival send the rest of the day sightseeing in Luxor. Highlights include Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings and Queens, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon. Overnight Sonesta St. George Hotel, Luxor.
Day 4 - 8 Lazuli Dahabiya cruise. Transfer by car to Esna to join Lazuli Dahabiya cruise. Your 5-night cruise is on a full board basis including all sightseeing as per cruise itinerary. During your cruise you will have the opportunity to visit the Karnak Temple, El-Kab, Edfu and Kom Ombo.
Day 9 Aswan to Cairo. Disembark Lazuli and transfer to Aswan airport for your flight to Cairo. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Grand Hyatt Hotel, Cairo.
Day 10 Cairo to London. Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
